The notes in Em7 are E, G, B, D. In standard guitar tuning, read strings from low E to high E. A × means mute that string; ○ means play it open. Numbers in the circles indicate suggested fingers: 1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 pinky. A fret number beside the grid locates a higher position.
Start with one shape and sound each string separately. Keep your fingers close to the frets. Higher shapes and three-note voicings offer a different register of the same chord. Piano mode highlights the corresponding notes and lets you compare inversions.
